PAST...

October, 2003 - CAPWGS held its annual Pond Tour in October,2003.  It was different from any other year as the tour was held during the day and into the night, so visitors could get a good idea of how to add lighting to their pond.

June, 2003 - CAPWGS Founders Day and Birthday Celebration...  The Capital Area Pond and Water Gardening Society celebrated its 10th birthday on Sunday, June 22, 2003 with a Founders Day and Reunion party. All current and former members are invited to attend. The party was held at the home of James & Ruth Carter, 2563 Riverview Dr., Denham Springs.  In its 10 year history the Pond Society has made generous donations of money, time, expertise, and labor to various charitable organizations and agencies in the Baton Rouge community. Membership is open to anyone who is interested in ponds and water gardening.

September, 2002 - The Capital Area Pond & Water Gardening Society held its first Water Gardening Clinic on Saturday, September 21, 2002.  An historical overview of water gardening through the ages up to our present water gardens of today was given.  Guest Speakers were Dr. Kelly Rusch of Environmental Engineering of LSU -  Water Quality and Algae Control, Dr. Ron Malone - Pond construction and Filtration, Dr. John Hawke - Fish and Fish diseases, Bob Mirabella, instructor in Horticulture at LSU - Aquatic Plants.  The day also included a jambalaya lunch prepared by Carlton’s Seafood,  a tour of THE METAPHORPHOSIS! Children’s Learning Garden, Door prizes and raffle drawing of the lovely Cypress Glider donated by Just-a-Swinging. Sunday we had our Ninth Annual Pond Tour, which featured four lovely ponds, see the pictures in our  photo album.

June, 2002 -  the Society helped co-sponsor the annual Pond Tour for Charity which is sponsored by Harb's Oasis in June of each year. That Tour benefited cancer research at Woman's Hospital. The ponds of several Society members were shown on the Tour, and other members assisted at membership recruitment tables at various ponds.
